Debate

I think the debate was really awesome. My opinion is that I think the French should of won the debate because we were good friends with the Indians. We made good money and we wanted to keep the fur trade going. My other opinion is that I thought the Indians should of  won because they were here first. They believed  the Great Spirit gave the land to share with everyone.  I think the Colonist deserved Ohio because they had sea-to-sea clauses.

We got these cards and we had to write facts about our group. When we were doing the debate we had to pick some -body to be our leader for our group. Then the leader would read some of our cards. Then the other people would read there’s. We had judges come and ask questions about the groups and they would pick the winner. So the judges went out in the hall and talked about who had the best argument.

Eve Bunting

In reading we are reading Eve Bunting books. I am reading “So Far From the Sea.” It is about a girl going to her grandfather’s grave site, and about the history of that place. I really like Eve Buntings books. They tell lots of details and she always has a reason for writing them.

As the family is walking to the monument where the grandfather is buried, Laura’s dad has flashbacks on when he was in Manazar Relocation Camp. He tells Laura and her brother about the school he was in, the houses, or barracks that he lived in.  As they were leaving, Laura put her father’s old boy scout neckerchief by the grave. She did this because when her father had been taken to the camp, his father had told him to wear it so they would know that he was a true American. Grandfather hoped that when the soldiers came, they would not take him.

I think that Eve Bunting wanted children to read this book so that they would know about the sadness that Japanese-Americans had to go though during World War 2.

Happy 2012!

First Moose Sighting
That dark mass by the fence is a moose...I know, I was disappointed too!

But then...

Second Moose Sighting!
I pulled over to the side of the road to get a picture of this one! Yay!
There were other cars pulled over too.
Spotting moose around the Anchorage area is fun for most of the people that live here.

Third Moose Sighting
In Front of our House! Double Yay!
I walked out of the house to try to capture it on video!

Below is a video of the moose munching on the tree.

I couldn't help myself, but with a little bit of zoom, I was able to get closer.
