Fun Games

Gym is my best subject. It’s really fun. You can play football, dodge ball, and capture the flag. In dodge ball you just have to hit the other person with a ball. In football you have to get the ball. In capture the flag, you have to get the flag and get to the other side. Another game is Santa sleigh wreck where Santa loses all of his toys and you have to collect them. It’s really fun. Another game is basketball. You just have to make it in the hoop. Another fun game is subki ball. It is from another state. There is a sticker. You have to show it. Another game is soccer. There are two goals. You have to make the ball go between the two posts.
Another great game is Great Wall of China. This is how you play. You just go across the room without getting tagged.

Struggle for Ohio Debate

Click the picture above to view our Debate Video!
Recently, we had a debate in our classroom. It was over who should own Ohio. There were three sides.  One side was the Colonists. An argument they had was “ we have sea to sea clauses”. Another group was the Indians. One of their arguments they had was “The Great Spirit gave them the land to share.” The last group was the French. “Celeron built the first ship on Lake Erie” was one of their arguments.
We spent a long time preparing for this debate.  After figuring out who did what facts, we were ready for the debate.  First, we gave some information on why we deserve Ohio. Then, we argued against reasons that other groups had used about why that isn’t a good reason to why they deserve Ohio. The Native Americans won the debate, but the colonists won Ohio.

Mock Debate

My class was doing a Mock Debate in Social Studies .We debated   about   if   Phillips Park   was   replaced with apartments, how our community would feel about it. My class was divided into two groups and one half  went   into the middle room and the other half stayed in our classroom. One of the groups was the Housing Development Association. The   group I was in was the Nature Conservancy. They were trying to convince the Housing Developmental Association to not build the apartments because the animal habitats live in the woods by the park. The Housing Developmental Association was trying to build the apartments because they thought that the new families in Mount Vernon could live there. Then it would help more schools that don’t have a good population.

At the end we collected our thoughts and debated. We argued about how it’s not good to build the apartments because it could pollute the air and it also could be bad if the people’s trash that lived in the apartments would get in the river.  It’s good to build the apartment because there would be a daycare in the apartment for the children that need it. I have really enjoyed social studies this year with the debate.
