Personal Narratives
I have been writing a narrative in class and this is what I am writing about so far.
A kid named Ricky who started picking on me and calling me names. I didn’t like that and my friend Darrien came and told Ricky to stop. Then Ricky stopped calling me names. Next Ricky got scared and ran away. When Ricky went away we got on the swing and waited for the bell to ring.
I told Darrien thanks for helping me he replied your welcome. Then after school I invited him to my house and we had pizza and played video games for a while. Then we watched a movie. After the movie his dad came and picked him up. I think the best part was when Darrien helped me.

American Jazz Experience
I recently watched a performance at the Memorial Theater called the American Jazz Experience. It was so cool! They played the trumpet, the saxophone, the cello, the piano, and the drums. They taught us all kinds of different music. All of it comes from Jazz. Their names were: Daddio, Jim, Mr. Walker, Bobby, and Dave. They taught us Jazz and the Blues.
It was so fun because they had us get up and do Ragtime and the Boogie Woogie. They even had people come up on stage and do a scat. A scat is a type of song where you repeat nonsense words what the other person says. They also taught us Harmony and Melody. I enjoyed my time at Memorial Theater and I hope to go again very soon.

Art
In art we are making castles. Mr. Lane is teaching us to make moats. I learned how to make battlements on the tower. We are going to color it when were done. I like making castles because you add lots of details.
It is exciting making castles. Mr. Lane is a very good artist. I have a very nice art teacher. I think I am a good artist too. The hardest part is the bricks. Art is fun to do because you get to paint, draw, and color the castles.

I LOVE BOOKS
I LOVE BOOKS! For reading groups, I’m reading Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great, Judy Blume. During independent reading I’m reading Magic Tree House books. Reading just right [JR] books make you become a better reader.
In the book, Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great. Sheila’s family is going to Tarrytown to stay in Professor Egran’s house for the summer. Sheila is mad because she has to sleep in a boy room. Sheila sees a dog named Jennifer. It’s the Egran’s dog. Sheila sees a spider on her ceiling. Sheila is scared of the dark, dogs and spiders. Sheila doesn’t want anybody to know. Sheila is taking swimming lessons this summer. Mouse is her friend. Mouse told Sheila about Washington Irving and the headless horseman. The Headless Horseman was invented by Ichabod Crane. Mouse said Ichabod was frightened when the headless horseman was riding through Tarrytown. I can't wait to read the next chapter.

Family Reading Night
My class will continue to write on our blog, but I wanted to share with all of you how wonderful it was to see you this evening at Family Reading Night. This is our school's first evening reading event and our East School Families supported their school like they always do! I'm posting some pictures of our classmates reading with a family member. I didn't get everyone because there were quite a few of you very busy reading! Thank you for supporting our First Family Reading Night and the Scholastic Book Fair. The money raised at the Book Fair goes right back into the classrooms allowing teachers to purchase books for classroom libraries, reading groups and our school library. I saw many creative bookmarks being made and I think that everyone enjoyed the popcorn. Thank you for supporting your child and encouraging them to become lifelong readers!

Captain Underpants
The first few days of school have been good. My favorite thing so far is camp read a lot. It is my favorite thing because if you read six books and do six book reports for each book you get to spend the night at the school. I like Ms.Frackman because she is a fair teacher, she has great rules, she has good and fun experiences, and she is really nice. My favorite subject is gym and math because in gym you get to move and I love sports. I like math because I like using numbers and a lot of games have math involved. My favorite book is Diary of a Wimpy Kid because it is a humorous book and I love humorous books. Fourth Grade is a big change because I am upstairs and you can never goof off.
I just finished reading Captain Underpants. It was a great book. My favorite parts were when George and Herald accidently bring talking toilets to life. Captain Underpants sling shot the cafeteria food at the attacking toilets. Then a huge toilet comes so George and Herald bring a huge plunger guy to life and he takes down the big toilet.
