Roscoe Village Field Trip

The most fun activity this week was going to Roscoe Village. I think everyone liked it! My favorite part of the trip was going on the Canal boat. I liked looking for wildlife at the front of the boat. I saw a turtle and a lot of plants and fish, Natalia and Emily say they saw two water snakes! I said neat when Natalia told me but a lot of kids said Yuck! , Eeeek !, Ewww!

                                                                                  

Some other things Roscoe had were a Blacksmith’s forge, a doctor’s office, and a weaving room. My favorite house was the doctor’s house I liked the pantry. I hope I get to go back to Roscoe someday!

East School Fun Fair

The Fun Fair was fun! It was fun because of all the fun games. What I thought was fun at the fun fair was the face painting. When I got home from school Friday, May 11, 2012 I was so excited! I wanted to go to the fun fair really badly! When I went to the fun fair I got to see Sasha, Beyza, Trey, Ryan, CJ, Skyler, Mallory, Trenton, and Alex Walker. My favorite part was when I got my face painted. I looked like a tiger cub with vampire teeth and a sword. I played Smash The Noodle.  I got to get any prize I wanted!

Other things I liked about the fun fair were the Balloon Animals, Dinosaur Dig, Plink-A-Plink, and the food! I ate pizza. I even liked the Arrow game in Mrs. Fannin’s class. I got to get 2 prizes from the Arrow game! The prizes were 2 tops. I miss going to The Fun Fair! I hope everyone else liked it too!

Visiting the Statehouse

We visited the Statehouse in the beginning of May because we were studying government.

The House Chamber was huge and it had a lot of desks. The Senate Chamber wasn't as big because there aren't as many senators than representatives. I like the state room. It had a long wooden table.

I liked it when we went outside and took a group picture with Margaret Ruhl. It was awesome.

Show What You Know and Testing

           

            We have worked hard learning new things in reading and math. During the past few weeks we have been reviewing for the OAA's. They are big tests that we take in third, fourth and fifth grade.

During our review time, it's called SHow What You Know. When we were doing show what you know it was fun you got candy if she said our name wrong. Some of our names were Jammin'  Jordan, Brilliant Bryn, Luminous Lexi and Marvelous Macie. We get little books that have our reading and math review in it. Who everworks the hardest wins the trip to the bowling alley.

The OAA's were hard. Some people got to go to different people for the OAA's and some people took their tests in the classroom. After the OAA's we got to watch a movie to relax. It was called The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.  It was so much fun.

The Hunger Games

Right now I am reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It is about the future where twelve districts struggle to survive because the Capitol has all the money and won’t give the districts any money to show their power. Every year the Capitol puts on a show called The Hunger Games where one boy and one girl from each district are forced to go into an arena and fight to the death with the other tributes.

            The main character, Katniss Everdeen, has a sister, Primrose Everdeen, that gets picked to go into the Hunger Games and probably get killed, but before she goes, Katniss volunteers as tribute instead of her sister. Katniss ends up winning The Hunger Games but gets herself in trouble in the next book in the series, Catching Fire.

There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom

          Recently I read, There’s  a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom by Louis Sachar. It is about a kid who tells a lot of lies. His name is Bradley. He picks a fight with girls…that’s crazy! His teachers say he is really mean and has behavior problems. He only has one friend and it is a girl. Her name is Carla and she is the school counselor. She is the only person that makes him not mean.

In the book Bradley is the school bully. In the book Bradley gets stuck in the girls’ bathroom. Carla thinks she can help him. I like the book because it is the funniest book I ever read. I think the book is the best. I think all of the characters are funny. I hope you guys will like this book.
