Math
In math we are looking at area. We are looking at the area of rectangles, squares, triangles, and irregular shapes. Before we did area we were doing perimeter. A perimeter is the measurement around 2-d a shape. Area is the inside of a 2-d shape. Today we studied volume. Volume is the inside of a 3-d shape. We only started today, so I don’t know much about volume. Math is my one of my favorite subjects, so I know a lot about math. I can’t wait to learn more about math this year, and the next year and the years after that!

Weather
I think science is awesome. Right now my class is learning about the air. Did you know most of the gas in the air that we breathe is nitrogen? We breathe 21% of oxygen. We breathe 1% of other gases. Wonder why your car is hot in the summer? Well talk to me. The sun hits your vehicle and the heat stays in your vehicle. This is an example of the greenhouse effect. Some of the sun’s rays get trapped in our atmosphere from the gasses that are in our air.
Some of the weather interments that we are learning about are wind vane, wind sock, and anemometer. A wind vane and wind sock tells us wind direction. An anemometer measures wind speed.

February Photo-A-Day Challenge
I think this challenge will be kind of fun for our class during the month of February. Each student selected a date from the month of February. On that day, they will take a picture of their assignment for the day. I am excited to see how creative my students are with their picture taking!
